What incentives are available?
The state supports replacing old heating systems with modern heat pumps through attractive grants administered via KfW.
Basic grant – 30%
Every eligible owner receives a baseline grant for installing a qualifying heat pump.
Climate speed bonus – +20%
An additional bonus when replacing old oil, coal, gas floor heating, or certain older gas boilers.
Income-based bonus – +30%
For households with taxable annual income up to €40,000.
Efficiency bonus – +5%
For especially efficient heat pumps using natural refrigerants or delivering high seasonal performance.
The chart below summarises the four bonus building blocks you just read about—each bar shows the percentage points.
Maximum funding
Up to 70% funding is possible when several bonuses combine.
Maximum eligible costs: €30,000 for the first residential unit; additional amounts may apply in multi-family buildings.
Potential grant from the state: up to €21,000.
